There's a new Welsh Language Initiative (Menter Iaith) for the counties of Blaenau Gwent, Torfaen and Monmouthshire. Here's their website. The Development Office is Helen Williams (formerly of Menter Iaith Sir Caerffili). Contact Helen to find out more about the Menter and to suggest things you'd like to see happening locally. Remember to register for their e-event system to hear about the latest events in the area.

Menter Iaith Gwent?

Mae Menter Iaith ym mhob rhan o Gymru bron, heblaw am siroedd Gwent (er mae Cymraeg Casnewydd yn sir Casnewydd). Ers amser nawr, mai rhai pobl wedi bod yn sôn am gael Menter Iaith ar gyfer Sir Fynwy, Torfaen a Blaenau Gwent. Os oes gyda chi farn ar y mater, gallwch fynychu un o gyfarfodydd trafod sy'n digwydd yn yr ardal. Yn cyfarfod bydd cynrychiolwyr o Fwrdd yr Iaith, Mentrau Iaith cyfagos a grwpiau eraill sydd diddordeb yn y Gymraeg - mae croeso i unrhywun.

There's a Menter Iaith (Welsh Language Initiative) in almost every corner of Wales, apart for the counties of Gwent (although Cymraeg Casnewydd exists in Newport). For a while now, there have been people wanting a Menter Iaith for Monmouthshire, Torfaen and Blaenau Gwent. If you have an opinion on this, you can attend one of a series of discussion meetings in the area. At the meeting there will be representatives from the Welsh Language Board and also from neighbouring Mentrau Iaith and interested groups - everyone is welcome.
